Bob’s sister, Cynthia, is the family genealogist. In researching the family’s ancestry, she found her great-great grandmother’s gravestone badly deteriorated. Over the years, Cynthia thought about what she could do to rectify the situation. She decided to have a new monument placed on her great-great grandmother’s grave, replacing the nearly illegible stone currently there.
In February, this year, Cynthia sent an invitation to family members descended from her great-great grandmother, Sarah Chase James, to attend the new monument dedication. The new monument dedication was held at noon today at Fairbanks Cemetery in Farmington Township (Warren County, PA). Family members from New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania attended the dedication.
Two other family members attended the dedication as well; however, they arrived a few minutes after this photograph was taken.
A luncheon immediately followed the monument dedication. The luncheon was held at McNutter’s Ice Cream Barn and Restaurant in the nearby small town of Lander.
Paul and Anne with their daughter Jeni’s family —
Jeni and Brett and their children Amanda, Matthew, Jacob, Ryan and David
Steve and Jean attended the memorial dedication but arrived a few minutes too late to be included in the group photograph taken at the cemetery.
Thank you Cynthia and Larry for hosting this family reunion. The monument dedication was truly a beautiful, memorable ceremony. We had a wonderful time at the luncheon that followed the dedication ceremony. We enjoyed visiting with family members whom we know and meeting other family members for the first time.
