A Ride Alongside the Shores of Lake Erie
I wrote in my previous blog post that we attended Hollywood Happening in Gowanda on May 31st. We rode to Gowanda, NY from Warren, PA via Route 62. When we departed Gowanda, we continued on Route 62 to Route 438. We followed Route 438 through the Cattaragus Indian Reservation to Routes 5 and 20 to Silver Creek, NY, at which point we chose to take Route 5 alongside the shores of Lake Erie. The views of Lake Erie are especially scenic along Route 5.

Waves coming on shore and, in the distance, crashing against cliff

We followed Route 5 as far as Dunkirk, NY. We took Routes 60 and 62 back to Warren.

Beautiful photos! I like the change in color with the depth. I remember stopping by Lake Erie at a couple of different vantage points in the 70s. It looked so dead then. Your pictures are showing me a much improved lake. I hope it's true.
It has been a while since I traveled along the Lake Erie shore lines. I agree with mkreider – used to look dead and full of seaweeds, as I recall. Not so now by the look of these pictures.
I grew up in Silver Creek. Thanks for the memories. The lake was a mess back then. The Clean Water Act and the zebra muscles cleaned it up.Steve Waterhousewaterhousegroup.com
