Neighborhood Beautification Project
Two local artists, one of whom is my friend Tara Eastman, and several volunteers gathered at the Eastside YMCA in Jamestown, NY, yesterday morning to start work on a large mural. The mural, when completed, will be placed on a blighted building located in Jamestown.
I cannot draw or paint, but I can take photographs. I spent the day snapping pictures to record the progress of the mural.

This is Kristen, who is a local artist.
Kristen asked the volunteers to find an image that stirred in them a memory or an emotion; those images were the ones that were used on the mural.
Kristen and Tara are excited because the primer coat is now dry.

Tara and Kristen begin drawing and painting the mural.

The work on the mural will continue through this week and next Saturday. I plan to take more pictures of the mural next Saturday and will, of course, post pictures as soon as I get them organized, edited and uploaded.
In addition to the mural project another group of volunteers met at the railroad tracks on Foote Avenue and participated in the Clean Streets Project.
