Last week I posted a blog about a winter storm that produced thunder, lightning, high winds, sleet, snow, hail and rain. During that storm a woman sat on a rock, across the street from my house, smoking a cigarette while the wind was blowing and it was hailing. The umbrella that she held over her head hardly provided shelter from the hard-hitting hail and fierce winds.
I took a picture of this woman a day later, once again sitting on her rock smoking a cigarette. The postman’s creed crossed my mind as I took her picture. Slightly modified that creed is an appropriate caption for the photograph displayed below.
Because of Pennsylvania’s no smoking law the residents of the facility in which this woman lives cannot smoke inside or near the building. I do not smoke; I have never smoked. If I did, though, I believe the conditions under which this woman must smoke would provide incentive for me to quit smoking!
