On this first day of the new year I want to share with you a few things for which I am thankful and some of our plans for the coming year.
I am thankful that our personal finances are healthy. I am thankful that we have only one loan, the mortgage on our home. We own three motor vehicles (a car, a SUV and a motorcycle), none of which is newer than 2001. I am thankful that all vehicles are in good operating condition. Even though Bob is on temporary lay off beginning January 4th, I am thankful that our finances can withstand the loss in income until he returns to work.
I am thankful that Bob and I have a happy and healthy marriage. We genuinely like one another, amuse and comfort one another, and enjoy spending time with each other.
I am thankful that we get along with each of our family members.
I am thankful for our friends, old and new.
I am thankful that Bob and I enjoy good health; however, it wouldn’t hurt to make improvements in this area. Both Bob and I are overweight. It would improve our well being if this new year included better food choices, weight loss and exercise.
We are looking forward to several travel opportunities this year, even though there is no monies allocated for vacation in our budget (LOL-laughing out loud). We’ll have to work out an anticipated vacation budget and borrow from our savings the monies necessary to enable us to realize our travel plans. We plan to travel for a few weeks while Bob is on temporary lay off. We will head either south or west, possibly both. We will decide our destination(s) in a few days and set our travel dates. In May we will travel to Hawaii. As we purchased our airline tickets in December last year and will stay with family members while in Hawaii, we need only to allocate monies for sightseeing, souvenirs, food and incidentals. There is a possibility, too, that we will spend a week at the Outer Banks in September with our friends, Al and Denise. We expect to do a fair amount of travel by motorcycle as well. I love to travel, so I am thankful that we are able to do so. As I look out the window and see snow falling, I hope that we can begin our travel south soon. I want to get out of the cold and snowy north, if only for a few weeks!
What are your thoughts on this first day of the year?
