Toiling in the Garden
I weeded the garden bed alongside the driveway. I filled up three Walmart plastic grocery bags with weeds. Each bag is stuffed full. After filling the first bag, I had to stop. My right knee hurt; the arch of my left foot hurt; and the lower right-hand side of my back hurt. The pain was excruciating. I could barely walk upright, although the walking did get better the more steps I took. I took ibuprofen for the pain and rested for a while. I went back outside about an hour later and did some more weeding. After filling the second plastic bag with weeds, I decided to stop before the pain got too bad. I went back outside 30-45 minutes later and filled the third plastic bag with weeds. Guess what? I finished the job! I had to stop and start several times, but I finished. It was hard toiling in the garden. The reward is that the garden bed once again looks great. Sorry, no picture this time. I’m too tired to go get the camera. So please just take my word. The garden bed looks great!

As the Turtle told the Rabbit: “Slow and steady wins the race.” I'm sorry you had the pain. I'm glad you were accomplish what you set out to do!
It is hard work keeping a garden up. I have to do the same thing as you. I work some and rest more and then work some more and rest even more and back again till it's done. I have been having to sit on the ground to put the plants in the ground. Good that you finished. It'll be looking good now.

Oh—I can sympathize, Linda… I am having a horrible time with my left knee… It's hard to walk–so I'm hobbling around alot this week. NOT FUN–especially while on vacation.I'm sure your flowerbeds look great… I can understand WEEDS… We have our share too!!!! That will be my job when we get home..We've had a great time at the beach… Too bad that it's almost over.Take care of yourself and don't over-do.Hugs,Betsy
Oh, Linda, remember when we could just squat down, pull for a while, stand up and walk away? I call those the “good old days”;-) But the gardens we tend now are much more valuable because of the extra effort and pain that goes into them. Your greenspace is now priceless.
