Weekend in South Central Pennsylvania – First Day
We are spending three nights (August 5-8) in Jonestown, PA, at the Best Western Lebanon Valley Inn and Suites. It was a little less than a five and half hour drive from our house to the hotel. We chose a route that was less traveled and wound its way up, down and around mountains and past farmland. Our drive to the hotel was pleasant and stress free.
Upon checking into the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a tall, blue mug.

A note inside the mug read “In appreciation of your business with us”.
We received this mug because we hold the status of a Platinum Elite Member in Best Western’s reward program. It is a nice souvenir of our stay in Jonestown!
Our hotel room is generously sized, including the bathroom. Our room includes two queen-size beds, a table with two chairs, an arm chair, a dresser with a TV on top of it, a mini refrigerator and a microwave. The internet is free, located in our room, and is available either wired or wireless. Bob has a router that he prefers using via a wired connection. So the internet setup is ideal. We like the fact, too, that the thermometer on the wall actually controls the air conditioning.
Located conveniently immediately in front of the hotel are three fast food restaurants — Dairy Queen, Sbarro’s and Subway. After a 5 1/2 hour drive, we didn’t feel like driving somewhere for dinner. We ate dinner at Sbarro’s. We each ordered pepperoni and cheese Stromboli with salad and beverage. We received 10% off our restaurant bill by presenting our hotel key.
What brings us to Jonestown? On Father’s Day Stacey gave Bob two tickets to see Leon Redbone in concert. The concert is tomorrow evening at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse in Mt. Gretna, PA. Our hotel is about a 30-minute drive from the playhouse. We have a few other ideas of things to do and places to see while we are in this area. I will blog about each day’s activities as I am able.

Hi Linda you are travelling a lot! I hope you enjoy each bit and piece of your time there, keep shooting while we are waiting for your fabulous shots.
Enjoy the concert – what a nice gift to receive.I love the motorcycle lift! It's a very good idea – scrambling around on the ground isn't a lot of fun:-)
You just went to Hawaii and now you are in the North. Are you touring the whole of USA?I remember Buffalo. Back in 1976, my friend , 4 guys and I went to New York from Canada. We were driving back, and all the motels were booked. We stopped at Buffalo, and we were told there were no vacancy. An Asian woman with her American asked if I wanted to share a room with them. I refused. These days, I thought back, I was smart to refuse, you never know what weirdos there are.Of course, they may just have been kind.
Roger likes Leon Redbone…I think you guys are the first people I have ever 'met' who has even heard of him!
Have a great weekend Linda, I look forward to hearing all about it.An English Girl Rambles
