Tall Ships

Bob and I went to Erie, PA on Saturday to see tall ships that have been docked at Dobbins Landing since Thursday. We viewed the tall ships from three vantage points.

The tall ships were in Erie as a fund raising event for Flagship Niagara. It was possible to tour each of the tall ships. The lines were long, and it was such a pretty day. Bob and I decided not to tour the tall ships, opting instead to go for a day-long ride on the motorcycle.

I visited some tall ships when they visited Norfolk several years ago. It was fascinating to actually be on board such a ship. I saw the Pride of Baltimore II, but didn't board her. Thanks for your wonderful pictures.

Great pictures, Linda… I probably would have chosen to fight the crowds and at least board one of them, or get closer.. BUT–maybe not.. I hate crowds… You did get some great pictures though. Someday –I do want to see the tall ships.Hugs,Betsy

Its fun to look at replicas of ships from a time gone by. A couple years ago we wlaked on the boat used in the movie Amistad. Hard to believe thoe creaky old things actually made it across the Atlantic Ocean.Stephen Tremp

I love tall ships. Your pics are really cool! To sail on these beauties must be so much fun. My husband use to sail all the time and I have to admit being out on a sailing craft is so wonderful! We get tall ships on the Great Lakes some summers. Not the same as ones as you get on the East Coast though. They usually come into the Port of Muskegon in the summers which is North of us.

Ahhh there's something about a tall ship isn't there? Such a romantic and beautiful craft of a bygone era and way of life. So nice that you were able to see them. Great pic's; really love the first one.

Those are some great photos, Linda! I didn't know they were there. My BIL lives in Erie, so maybe we can get up that way soon.
