Brief Stop in Mayville
On our way home from Niagara Falls on Tuesday, we made a brief stop at Lakeside Park in Mayville, NY. I took a few pictures of things that interested me, and we continued on our way back home.

Lighthouse – If you look closely, you will see the moon to the right of the lighthouse.

The shape of this tree, which sits on the edge of Chautauqua Lake, interested me.

Snowmobiling is a popular activity in Mayville during the Winter months. If you look closely, you will see the moon in the top, center portion of this photograph.

The Ice Castle is being built for Mayville’s President’s Day Weekend Festival to be held February 18-20, 2011. If you look closely, you will see the moon hanging above the middle tower.

Chautauqua Belle is stored at Lakeside Park during the Winter months.

I saw your post over at Becky's and I thought: Oh surely she can't be talking about my Mayville! But you are! I grew up just a very short distance from where these pictures were taken. Do you remember seeing a little brown castle-y sort of church with a red door on Main Street? That's the church I grew up in and was married in. Our class has our senior party on board the Chautauqua Belle! So fun to look at your pictures… thanks for sharing them☺
That looks like a fun place to visit with police on snowmobiles and an ice castle. That old tree looks like it's about had it.
You had a very beautiful day for your brief stop in Mayville. I like the captures of the moon in that beautiful blue sky. Your photos remind me that winter and snow can be beautiful.
Those pictures are very interesting and it looks really cold!!
You saw some very interested sights Linda. Sounds and looks like you had a great trip.
I would like to see the ice castle when it is finished.
Great series of photos, Linda! A neat place to visit.
The photo of the lighthouse is superb. Reminds me of another lighthouse I photographed sometime back.Ram
