New Purchase
No, the blue comforter is not our new purchase. Patches likes it, though, as you can tell by how she is stretched out and relaxed lying on top of it. This bed is in our guest bedroom. We are using two bookcases as a headboard.

Last month we did make a new purchase in the bed department. We ordered a queen-size mattress set from Sam’s Club. We expect delivery of the mattress set this week. We’re replacing a mattress set that is 15+ years old. The mattress set, though, is not the “new purchase” suggested by the title of this blog post.
Bob and I went to Erie yesterday. We went shopping at Sam’s Club, where we purchased a few grocery items; Staples, where Bob purchased a new mouse (for his computer, not for Patches!); Best Buy, where we purchased nothing; Millcreek Mall, where we purchased a pair of inserts for my shoes; and two pet stores. What did we buy for Patches, you ask? We bought a deShedding comb and a window perch. Patches hasn’t decided yet if she likes the comb. There’s no question, though, that she likes the window perch. The window perch is attached to the sill of a window that looks out on our front yard.

There is a bird feeder in the next window. The window is covered with privacy film. Patches can see the birds; the birds can’t see Patches.

Patches has a great new seat at the window with a view. Nice photo, Linda!
That is really cool. I love the privacy screen on the window so she can see the birds. So cute!
Enjoyed the latest pictures of Patches. She looks so cute in all of them. I enjoyed the one of her looking at the bird also. I also picked up on you using the bookshelves as a headboard and wanted to say what a great idea. I don't have one for our spare bed and have been milling over what to buy in the way of a headboard.
@Denise – The bookcases work well as a headboard for a double bed. Although two rows of books are hidden behind the bed, the books are still readily available.
Heck, I'd love a window perch like that myself. Do they make it in super grande extra fat boy size? Patches is definitely happy there.
She is so entertaining! That's what I miss about a cat – though I love my two dogs!
I would be surprised if the cat did not like the window perch! :)Ram
It looks as if Patches can entertain herself with that window perch. The privacy film should keep the birds coming for her entertainment.
Hi Linda, Wow–you all had a great weekend…. New mattress, new mouse, AND a new perch for Patches…. I'm sure you all are happy —but Patches is probably the happiest of all!!!!! Great idea!!!Hugs,Betsy
Is she looking at the bird or at her own reflection?
Great pictures of Patches, Linda. Looks like she made herself at home right off. 🙂
Linda, i can see you are really smitten with that cat, Patches. It looks like it is getting spoiled, hehe. We have a few cats and sometimes i really had a lot of shots just to get photos which i like, last weekend i took a lot and i ended up having non that i like. I am now tempted to post cats also because of your consecutive posts.
@Ann – Patches was looking at the bird, not her reflection.@Andrea – Please show us some pictures of your cat.
Linda where did you get the window perch from. I think that the twins would love one.You need to go to this site and see the calico kitty therehttp://lovemeow.com/2011/03/sophie-the-calico-and-her-best-furever-furiend/
Patches is adorable…
Esme – We purchased the window perch at Petco. We purchased an identical perch for use in the living room. We purchased the second perch on the Internet, as it was less expensive than purchasing in the store! Here's a link to the window perch:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YKBJKQ/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A2LDZGFAGG1QXE
Patches looks very happy with her new perch!
If the de-shedding comb doesn't work out, try searching online for a Zoom Groom. It's a silicone cat curry comb affair, long “fingers” so easy to clean and comfy in the hand. Does a good job of getting excess hair off cats. Two of my cats LOVE it and purr while groomed, the third, who hates ANYTHING done to her person, doesn't care for it much, but I can use it on her.Patches seems VERY into her birdwatching! Cool idea with the privacy film and great shot!
