Memorial Day Weekend – Skyline Drive (Bearfence to Simmons Gap)
We spent the Memorial Day weekend in Virginia. On Saturday we drove the entire length of Skyline Drive (105 miles), from Front Royal to Rockfish Gap. In order to better showcase the photographs that I took along Skyline Drive, I have divided the drive into five areas:
Front Royal to Pass Mountain Overlook
Thornton Gap to Crescent Rock
Hawksbill Gap to Point Overlook
Bearfence to Simmons Gap
Loft Mountain Overlook to Rockfish Gap
This blog post highlights the portion of the drive identified as Bearfence to Simmons Gap.

Baldface Mountain Overlook

Sandy Bottom Overlook

Bob took this picture of me at the Sandy Bottom Overlook

Bacon Hollow Overlook

Bob climbed rocks at Bacon Hollow Overlook

While Bob climbed rocks at Bacon Hollow Overlook, I admired the flowers at the base of the rocks.

Eaton Hollow Overlook
My next Memorial Day Weekend blog post will highlight the portion of Skyline Drive that I have identified as Loft Mountain Overlook to Rockfish Gap.

The mountains and valleys are so impressive in their scale. How great that you got to enjoy the views.
Absolutely beautiful… The mountains look good, fresh air!!Nice clicks too, have a good day:)
The scenery is amazing! I love your photos Linda, and I'm glad to see you popped one in of yourself.
So rich and green, really nice. I loved your luna moth in the previous post too.
So beautiful! It is fun to see different parts of the country through your camera lense:) You commented about seeing the name Yoder on my Memorial Day post. My father was raised Amish and left the church when he was 17. He has contiued to serve the Lord to this day but not in the Amish church. It is a very rich and amazing heritage to have and he told us many things about his life growing up.
More beautiful shots, Linda! A great photo of you. I love the Skyline Drive.
More wonderful shots…I cannot wait to feel normal again and be able to feel like getting out and about some…
