Memorial Day Weekend – Alexandria, VA
We spent the Memorial Day weekend in Virginia. Our first night in Virginia (Friday, May 27) was spent in Front Royal.
On the morning of Saturday, May 28, after taking a few photographs in Front Royal we set off for Skyline Drive. We drove the entire length of Skyline Drive (105 miles) on Saturday. We spent our second night in Waynesboro at the Best Western Waynesboro Inn & Suites. We would stay at this hotel again, if the opportunity presented itself. We were happy with the hotel and our accommodations.
Our final destination for our Memorial Day weekend was Alexandria, Virginia. We took our time driving from Waynesboro to Alexandria. We stayed off the Interstates and took back roads most of the way to Alexandria. Along the way, as we were passing by Brandy Station, we spotted a church from the highway. We turned around for a closer look.

We spent two nights in Alexandria at the Best Western Mount Vernon – Fort Belvoir. This is another hotel that we would recommend for travelers. I expect that we will return to Alexandria sometime in the future and, when we do so, we will definitely stay at this hotel.
The purpose of our trip to Alexandria was to visit my cousins, Vernon and Wendy, and their 2-week-old son, Aiden. We didn’t do any sightseeing in Alexandria, except for a brief stop at Huntley Meadows Park on our way to Vernon and Wendy’s house from the hotel.

There were lots and lots of dragonflies at Huntley Meadows Park!

The photos of that sweet little baby boy were marvelous Linda. I was also excited to see the photos you had taken at Huntley Meadows, one of our favorite places to visit during the year. The old church was lovely also. Have a great weekend.
Hi, We're on the road —so I'm checking some of my blogs… Looks like a neat place… Love that little church. You enjoyed photographing that precious baby, didn't you? So cute…. Love the little feet… My youngest son was born on May 14.HugsBetsy
What a joyful post – a beautiful building, a sweet duckling and a precious newborn!
Linda, I have not found a Best Western that I did not like. They all seem to be great hotels. My favorite is the one at Chincoteague because it is so close to the park. They have a nice breakfast too. I enjoyed your photos, the baby is adorable. Huntley Meadows is a great place for birding, I've been there once with my bird club. Have a great weekend!
Love the dragonfly photo, cute baby.
Can't even try to pick a favorite photo, here, Linda! (Of course, babies are always tops on my list…) You do a great job on portraits as well as landscapes. Which do you like to shoot best?
I really enjoyed this post…and why is it that even though we talk on phones, chat via text messaging and instant messaging or facebook…there is just nothing quite like a face-to-face conversation with people we are close to?
