Roar on the Shore 2011
We rode to Erie yesterday and stopped for a short time at “Roar on the Shore”. This year marks the fifth year that this event has been held in Erie. According to the “Roar on the Shore” website, this motorcycle rally was created to serve as a fund-raising event for a local charity. Proceeds from this year’s rally will benefit the Flight 93 National Memorial. “Roar on the Shore” is a 3-day event (Thursday-Saturday) and is held in downtown Erie, at Perry Square.
We arrived in downtown Erie shortly before noon. Our motorcycle has a license plate that reads “GO MAD”. Can you pick out our motorcycle in the photograph shown below?

We checked out several vendor booths (didn’t purchase anything) and watched the Bill Dixon Stunt Show.

The stunt show was a crowd pleaser!
We didn’t stay long at “Roar on the Shore”, as it was very hot in downtown Erie. There wasn’t anything happening to hold our attention either. The concerts wouldn’t start until evening. We left “Roar on the Shore” after watching the stunt show. We rode to Presque Isle State Park — the topic of my next blog post.

Linda, neat looking pic's of the stunt show. I would like to visit Presque Isle someday. I am looking forward to seeing your next post.
WOW that must have been fun but roaring loud too! How was it? Isn't it hot at the moment??
Love that theme title, Roar on the Shore, Linda…. Creative!!!! Looks like there were TONS of motorcycles there. Have you all ever been down to Myrtle Beach for any of their motorcycle rallies down there in May??? I think they have different groups there almost every week in May… When we go to Ocean Isle Beach in May–we always run into the motorcycles when we drive down to Myrtle Beach. Hugs,Betsy
He's amazing, great photos Linda, what a fun gathering.
It's great when a bunch of riders all get together for a common purpose. I used to enjoy doing the same thing, but at a different location.Called “Americade”. It's a huge motorcycle rally or Tour that is held every year up in Lake George, NY. Thousands of bikes come in from all over the Country. I've been there 4 times in the past, and have always enjoyed what they had to offer. Riding the Lake George area, go over the border to Vermont, walk the 50-80 or so Vendors that were there, ride the “demo” bikes, take a Tour, and other things you could do and see. It was a 4 day event. A parade at night with all the bikes lite up was always a favorite. If you enjoy rallies like this, give it a look for next year. I'm more than sure you will enjoy the ride. I always did.Les
That stunt rider is really something. I hope neither of you try tricks like that.Roar on the Shore sounds like quite a big event. It's too bad it was so hot. Knoxville has a similar event, but I've forgotten what it's called.
Nice action photos Linda. You have captured everything well..BTW, did you or Bob do any stunts like those? :)Ram
That is an awful bunch of bikes…I would have enjoyed the stunt show.
Wow, those pictures were captivating and scary! What a show!
