The Mundane
Patches likes to help Mommy pay the bills.
Wow, the month of November already. This year seems like it has just flown by! Before you know it, that jolly fat man in the red suit will make his appearance.
I am spending the day on the mundane aspects of my life. I will be paying bills, entering expenses into Quicken, and balancing the budget for the month of October.
I will begin working on next year’s budget soon. I will have a budget in place by the 1st of January. By the end of the year very little, if any, of the expense categories will be as I budgeted. Past years’ budgets are an indicator of that fact of life. That’s OK, though. Our budget wouldn’t work if it were a rigid one. A flexible budget is good. What I garner from keeping a budget is a quick financial snapshot of where we have been, how we are doing and where we might be headed.

Isn’t Quicken just wonderful???? We use it also—and will have our budget for 2013 done before Jan. 1st… We also use it along with Turbo Tax when we pay our income tax….. Certainly helps!!!!
I don’t know how people make it without budgets… The budgets keep us accountable–and we know where we spend our money… Needless to say, most of our ‘extra’ money goes for traveling!!!! But–we love it.

I spent this day paying bills, etc….
Time really flies and it seems like there is less and less of it between the monthly bill paying day. Be sure and include some photo gear in that budget for next year. Even if you have to drop it later, you can fantasize about it for awhile anyway.
Patches is ever adorable! Ah bill paying, what a joy it is, NOT!!! 😉
I use Quicken, but I could use Patches help most months as well.
