No Guests at the Bird Feeders
I’ve seen a grey cat in our back yard twice this morning.

The cat is checking out our bird feeding station.
Perhaps the cat’s presence explains why the birds haven’t come calling.
Another reason for the absence of birds could be the hawk that Bob has seen around the neighborhood. I saw a hawk in our back yard last year. I haven’t seen the hawk this year.

An excellent portrait of the hawk!
That could be why you are not seeing any birds. Birds do attract both cats and hawks. A small stray kitten was at our feeder the other day, while my wife was watching. She turned away to do something and heard a hawk attack something. When she turned at the noise, it was flying away and the kitten was never seen again–she is certain that the hawk killed the kitten and carried it away.
