Galeton Band House
On our way home from our weekend vacation in NE Pennsylvania earlier this month, we made a fuel stop in Galeton, PA. We have passed through Galeton many times over the years. The park, located in the town center, is pretty. I had never taken a photograph of the park, though, until April 22, 2013.

The octagon-shaped building is the Band House. The Band House was built in the early 1920’s by Henry W. Lush and Marcus Handwerk. I assume that the Band House has something to do with the arrival of the Schwarzenbach Brewing Company. The Schwarzenbach Brewing Company moved to Galeton from Germania, PA in 1902. Some of the brewery’s employees made up the Germania Band. Marcus Handwerk combined this band with several other groups in Galeton to form the Galeton Band.

Back in the day……when we were first married, we would come to Galeton for the 4th of July right there in the park. The fireworks over the water were so pretty!
Love the history of these places
How neat… A band house, huh? I’ve never seen one before. The local bands used to play in the amphitheater at the park… People would gather and listen and dance… Great memories!!!
