I’ve Spotted the Female, but Not the Male
Each year, in May, I watch for the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak’s arrival. It is such a pretty bird and larger than my usual backyard birds.

I saw the female grosbeak, for the first time, this year this morning.
I have not yet seen the male grosbeak.
I have just started to see chipmunks again too. I’m not seeing as many chipmunks as I have in past years. We have a few feral cats in the neighborhood. Perhaps the cats are helping to keep down the small critter population.

I see you.
I’m a brave little chipmunk, though.

See? I’ll climb to the bird feeder, while you watch.

Hi Linda, So glad you saw the female Grosbeak. That means that you will see the male SOON…. Hooray!
Hugs,
Betsy
We saw the females first this year as well. We do have many chipmunks we would be happy to share with you.
Great photos of these cute little critters Linda. Fun to see the birds return. I have never seen a Grosbeak in our garden but recently I’ve had some Goldfinches for the first time this year. Have a great Sunday 🙂
I bet the cats are keeping down the chipmunks….we used to have a couple here when the kids were small, but not since we have started having cats.
