Mourning Dove
A couple days ago, while outside with my husband, I happened to look across two neighbors’ back yards to their back yard neighbor’s side yard and way up into a tree. I don’t know what caused me to look over that way. I don’t recall seeing motion of any kind. I saw something in the tree. I asked my husband if he saw anything in the tree. He said that he didn’t see anything. The tree was pretty far off, so I thought perhaps what I was seeing was a hawk. I went inside our house for my camera. I had to change to a telescopic lens. With my naked eye, I still could make out something in the tree. I held the camera up to my eye, looking through the telescopic lens. Yes, there WAS something in the tree. As it turned out, the something was not a hawk. It was a mourning dove. The photograph displayed above was not taken from our yard. I walked across two neighbors back yards to capture this photograph. I do like to capture a photograph of a bird in its natural habitat, as opposed to at a bird feeder.
