Ashtabula County OH Covered Bridge Tour (Post 11 of 18)
Please refer to my first Ashtabula County OH Covered Bridge Tour blog post for additional information about this series of blog posts.
Bob took this picture of me photographing the Smolen-Gulf Covered Bridge.
This is the photograph that I took of Smolen-Gulf Covered Bridge from the park bench.
I did walk down to street level for another vantage point.
The Smolen-Gulf Covered Bridge carries State Road over the Ashtabula River.
This is the longest covered bridge in the United States.
We visited the Smolen-Gulf Covered Bridge one time before, during the Labor Day weekend in 2010. During that visit we walked across the bridge and drove down to Indian Trails Park, located underneath the bridge. I wrote at that time that we planned “to make a return trip to Ohio because there are sixteen more covered bridges in Ashtabula County”. I want to make a return trip to visit some or all of the covered bridges in Ashtabula County. I sure hope it doesn’t take us almost 6 years to make that return trip!

What a neat covered bridge!
That’s a fancy one Linda.
Hi I have SO enjoyed your covered-bridge ‘tour’…. We had that kind of a trip planned several years ago. Had even worked out quite a few details –but that big storm came along and changed our plans. We were going to tour Vermont and see some of their historic covered bridges… That storm tore up a bunch of those beautiful bridges… SO–we cancelled that trip –and have never gotten back. I know how much you all have enjoyed seeing those covered bridges… AMAZING.
Besides covered bridges and waterfalls, I’d also love to take a lighthouse trip sometime along the Atlantic coast–collecting picture of as many lighthouses as we can find…. Wish there was more time and more MONEY in our lives… ha…
Thanks for sharing, Linda.
Hugs,
Betsy
Wonderful photo. This one is bigger than any I have seen. You found some really beautiful bridges on this trip. Thanks for sharing them Linda.
