On Wednesday, May 11th, we drove from our home in Warren PA to Leeper PA, a distance of approximately 47 miles. Our destination was the Rail 66 Country Trail trailhead. We parked off Route 66 in the Car Mate parking lot next to the trail. From the Leeper trailhead we rode our bicycles, south, to […]

It has been 8 months since I last published a blog post for ”Bicycling the beauty around us”. Our last bicycle ride in 2021 was in September. So far this year we have bicycled in our neighborhood, and we rode our bicycles at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on Assateague Island in Virginia. We bicycled a […]

Our wedding anniversary was this past Sunday, on September 26th. We decided to take an anniversary trip to Confluence PA, where we spent 3 nights at an Airbnb. We brought our bicycles with us. Around 10:00 am on Monday, September 27th, we left on a bicycle ride. Entry to the Great Allegheny Passage was a […]

We vacationed the week of June 25 through July 2 in Hudson, Ohio. We brought our bicycles with us, intending to bicycle the entire Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park several times during the week. Because of extreme heat and high humidity and rain we ended up riding only a […]

Yesterday we went on our first bicycle ride this year outside of Warren. We transported our bicycles to the Quaker Run area of Allegany State Park. We met our friend Liz at the Quaker General Store. The three of us rode the new Quaker Run Multi-Use Trail (3.2 miles round trip). We didn’t realize that […]

What a nice remembrance!
We so fall in love with our pets. You have a great memorial there. 😑
Hello, sweet tribute to your Patches! She will always be with you.
I agree with seniorhiker.
That’s very nice and now Patches will be always be near to you, safely at home with those who she loved dearly. We have the ashes of our last 5 pets but just in plain small boxes as I never did find a vessel that I thought was appropriate for them. The only one we sprinkled the ashes of was our big dog Dobie as he loved being outdoors the most so it seemed right for him to be in the yard and every spring blue crocus appear there that I didn’t plant! Another one of our dogs Fluffy loved being outside, he had wanderlust so perhaps he should have been outside and free to wander. For some reason we never could bring ourselves to sprinkle his ashes but just might set him free sometime soon. Our Jodi is indoors as she liked being indoors with her quack quack toy. All of our cats are indoors as we believe that’s the only place cats are truly safe.
There are times I would give anything I own to have some of our pets back…they love us unconditionally and are happy with us no matter what.
Im so sorry for your loss! >3
Oh no, I am so very sorry to hear about Patches Linda. This is a very touching memorial. May the memories and all the joy she gave you bring you some peace. Sending you a big hug.
Hi, I think that is AWESOME…. Patches is “home” …. You will enjoy Patches and all of the memories FOREVER… Blessings to you two as you grieve –and yet find joy through the grief…
