Little Voice in My Head
Image obtained from YouTube
I started a new project today, as a result of Flickr changes that I discussed in my previous blog post.
The majority of the photographs in this blog are embedded Flickr images. If I delete the original Flickr images, the embedded Flickr photographs in my blog will be deleted as well. In essence my blog photographs are held hostage by Flickr! Recently I paid for an additional 1-year subscription to Flickr Pro; however, I do not wish to pay indefinitely for a Flickr Pro subscription.
My project, beginning today and continuing throughout 2019, is to download (and then delete) Flickr images embedded in my blog. I will upload the downloaded images into my blog in their proper place. Eventually my Flickr account will be devoid of all images, and I will either limit my photographs to 1,000 images or delete the account. Hopefully, I complete this project by November 1, 2019 — the day on which my Flickr Pro subscription would auto renew.
This project is a BIG undertaking! I have 1,474 blog posts to act upon!
I wish I had paid more attention to the little voice in my head, when I first started my blog. That little voice in my head kept asking “what if Flickr is no longer a viable hosting site for pictures in your blog, what then?”

It’s all to easy to ignore that little voice. I have a Flickr account, but I don’t use it for photos in my blog. I’m glad now that I don’t. I don’t envy you at all with your big project. Good luck!
Hi, You do have a big project ahead of you –but by being organized (like you always are) and having a year to complete —I know you can do it….
Glad I never used Flickr–especially for photos for my blog. BUT —There are many many things which I have done –and wished I had have listened to that ‘voice’….
Hello, I always download photos from my computer to the blog. I am sorry you have to go through all this work, Smugmug and Flickr merge has been a bad thing all around.
I didn’t realize that about Flicker, I wouldn’t like that either and am glad I don’t use it now, though I have often thought to. Best to listen to that little voice. Quite an undertaking but I know you’ll be happier for it. I know I would. Enjoy the rest of your day Linda.
I tackled the same project, but with Picasa. Good luck!
I don’t use Flickr all that much. I had noticed that they have merged with SmugMug. I think I’ll stay with the 1TB of free storage and 1000 photos. Not interested in paying for it at all!
1TB is no longer part of the equation, Les. The limit is 1000 pictures, including video I believe.
