Mourning Dove
It seems as though each year a pair of mourning doves builds a nest in our pavilion.

This mourning dove sat patiently on a shepherd’s hook in our backyard, as I took multiple photographs.

Is this my better side?

A Mourning Dove’s throat puffs up without opening its bill, when it coos.
Bob captured the following video on a wildlife cam.
The building of a nest in our pavilion appears it will happen again this year.

We also have at least two morning doves who come around each year. We’ve never found their nest, but we can always find them hogging the plate on the bird feeder station.
Lovely photos and video Linda. Our Mourning Doves have started arriving. I always enjoy this time of the year. Happy march to you and Bob!
Hello, Linda
The mourning doves are so sweet. Love the photos and video! Have a happy day and a great new week!
We thought it would be fun the first year we lived in our VA house and barn swallows built a nest on the front porch. Once the eggs hatched, the porch became a bird toilet. After that we strongly discouraged any future nesters. Sometimes they were quite persistent and took a bit of shooing away with a broomstick!
