We saw a vintage gas station, while visiting Ashtabula County OH covered bridges on May 31.

Chris’s Mobilgas

Chris’s Mobilgas is a collection of vintage Mobilgas signs, gas pumps and tanker truck arranged as a vintage gas station.

A red telephone box and a vintage police car are included too.

This is the Windsor Mills Covered Bridge.

The Windsor Mills Covered Bridge spans Phelps Creek.

What a pretty color for a bridge. The design resembles sun rays, where the American flags are hung.

The Riverdale Road Covered Bridge crosses over the Grand River.

This is the Mechanicsville Road Covered Bridge.

This covered bridge crosses the Grand River. It is believed to be the oldest covered bridge in Ashtabula County.

The Grand River Manor restaurant is located across the covered bridge.

According to its website, the Grand River Manor has a patio that overlooks the Mechanicsville Road Covered Bridge. The website encourages visitors to grab one of their delicious ½ pound burgers or an order of their famous jumbo wings. If we hadn’t already had lunch, we would have eaten here. We will keep the restaurant in mind for our next visit to Ashtabula County!

This is the Harpersfield Road Covered Bridge.

The steel bridge was added in 1913, when a flood washed away the land on the north end.

There is an Ashtabula County MetroPark at the north end of the Harpersfield Road Covered Bridge.

Harpersfield Road Covered Bridge spans the Grand River.

We drove across the bridge to the south side.

Anywhere along the southern or northern banks of the Grand River near the Harpersfield Covered Bridge would make an awesome spot for a picnic!

This is the West Liberty Street Covered Bridge.

This covered bridge crosses Cowles Creek and is the shortest covered bridge in the United States. Ashtabula County also has the longest covered bridge in the United States – the Smolen-Gulf Covered Bridge.

The toll-keeper booth is to remind visitors of pioneer days, when travelers often had to pay for the privilege of crossing a bridge. The toll-keeper booth serves as a visitor information center.

This is the Doyle Road Covered Bridge.

Doyle Road Covered Bridge crosses over Mill Creek.

There are two things, in addition to the bridge itself, that I like about this photograph.
I like the wheel hanging on the bridge, as well as the country scene behind the bridge.
