Tuesday Night Ice Cream Ride

We went on a motorcycle ride Tuesday evening (Aug. 18th) with our 2 Scoop CycleTherapy group friends.

As usual, we met at the North Warren playground parking lot and departed from there at 6:00 pm. Our group consisted of eight motorcycles and 15 riders.

Our first stop was at the Tom Erlandson Overview Park in Frewsburg, NY.

From the Erlandson Overview Park we rode to the Busti Victorian Hall for ice cream.

As always, time spent with this group of friends is time well spent!

I look forward to Wednesday night rides with friends. We leave at 6:00 pm from the North Warren Playground parking lot, which is located not far from our house. We usually get home before dark. Last night’s ride was to Eralndson Overview Park, located near Frewsburg NY. This was our first Autumn ride; this was our first ride when we didn’t stop for ice cream; and this was our first ride where we took a wrong turn.

The next several photographs are of scenery along our ride route. As you look through the pictures, you will notice that Autumn colors are beginning to appear.

Scandia Road was pretty rough in places.
Later we were to learn that some roads could be even rougher!

We rode past the Allegheny Reservoir in Onoville NY.

We stayed at Erlandson Overview Park, watching the sky turn color.

It was getting dark, as we prepared to depart Erlandson Overview Park. There would be no ice cream stop on this ride. It was getting late. It got later still, as we ended up taking a wrong turn. A phrase comes to mind — “where he leads, we will follow”. Also the story of the Pied Piper came to mind 🙂 Paul was in the lead, we followed him as we made our way back home. There was one left turn onto a road on which a short way down the road a sign read “Pavement ends”. The pavement certainly did end, abruptly. The “road”, if I can call it that, was a narrow and steep dirt path that was riddled with holes and ruts. We rode a short way down this path until we found a farmers field in which we turned around. We made it back home around 8:30 pm. Our planned 1 1/2 hour ride turned into a 2 1/2 hour ride. We had a great time, though. I love these Wednesday night rides. Not only do we get to spend time with friends, doing something we all enjoy, but there is always an adventure to reminisce about!

Ice Cream Ride to Frewsburg

I look forward to Wednesday night rides with friends. We ride for ice cream! We leave at 6:00 pm from the North Warren Playground parking lot, which is located not far from our house. We usually get home before dark. On August 27th we rode to The Igloo in Frewsburg NY. It was our largest group yet to ride for ice cream. There were 13 motorcycles and 23 riders!

Located on Oak Hill Road in the Town of Carroll just outside of Frewsburg is Erlandson Overview Park. We stopped at this park on our way home.

Erlandson Overview Park

Sitting at an elevation of approximately 2,040 feet, this 76-acre site offers a spectacular view of the surrounding hillsides and of Chautauqua Lake if you happen to visit on a clear day (and if trees do not block your view). It was the first time Bob and I visited this park. I would like to return one day soon, preferably when the leaves are changing color.
