Halloween 2016

Many Head Start, Preschool and Elementary age children near where I live participated in Halloween parades on Friday, October 28. Our granddaughters attend Head Start, and Bob and I went to their school to watch their Halloween parade.

Trick or treat night in our town was on Halloween from 6:00-8:00 pm. Stacey, Harper, Juniper and I went trick or treating at many houses on several streets in our neighborhood.

Another Halloween is in the books!

Family Time

The last 13 days of October, for which I have photographs to share, were all about family.

We spent the night of Saturday, October 19, in the Pittsburgh area. We visited with Bob’s cousin, Chris, and his family that evening. Amy made dinner. The main entree was honey mustard chicken accompanied by broccoli, whole grain rice, and salad. For dessert we had a choice of a mini croissant with either white or chocolate kisses inside or apple turnovers that we brought with us. I ate a mini croissant. After dinner, I took several pictures of Chris and his family.

I put together a collage of my favorite photographs of Chris and family.

Chris, Amy and their son, David, will be moving to Italy early next year for 3 year tour of duty. Although Chris and family will be far away, I am happy that they will have the opportunity for travel during their 3-year stay. I look back fondly on my 3 years in Germany, while I was in the Army. I saw so much of Europe, while I lived there.

On Sunday, October 20, we visited with my brother and some members of his family. We enjoyed lunch at Jim’s house. The main entree was stuffed shells accompanied by Italian bread. For dessert we had banana bread with chocolate chips. Lunch was delicious! After dinner, I took several pictures of Jim, Judy, Emily and Elise. I even got some pictures that included Bob and me, which either Emily or Judy took with my camera.

Thank you Chris and Amy and Jim, Judy and Emily for delicious meals and good conversations. Thank you, too, for preserving memories via photographs!

We enjoyed family time with Stacey, Mike, Harper and June in October as well. All four of them dropped by on Halloween.

Stacey left for home before Mike and the girls. I wish she had stayed just a little bit longer. I love this photograph of Mike, the girls, their cousin Maddi and their Aunt Jen.
I would have loved it even more, if Stacey was in the picture!

Happy Halloween!

It’s our granddaughters’ first Halloween. Stacey brought the girls over this morning, and I made a makeshift portrait studio from a small corner of our kitchen. I conducted a Halloween photo shoot.

Halloween Party

Bob and I attended a Halloween party on Saturday night (October 30) at the home of our friends, George and Theresa. George and Theresa host a Halloween party each year. This was the second year that we attended their party. The theme of last year’s Halloween party was “the 60s/70s”. This year’s party theme was “Rocky Horror Picture Show”.

Some people dressed in costume befitting the party theme – Riff Raff and Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

Several people wore Rocky Horror t-shirts.

Bob and I wore Rocky Horror t-shirts.

Other people came, dressed as they were.

As was the case last year, we enjoyed a fun-filled night in the company of great friends. The night was filled with high-spirited fun and enjoyment.

Have You Ever …

Have you ever driven by a scenic spot and say (or think) you’ll stop next time to take a picture? We have driven by the location shown in the following two photographs too many times to count. Each time we’ve driven by this particular location I would say “that is pretty”. Bob has asked each time I’ve made that comment if I want him to turn around so I can get a picture. My reply each time has been “no, just keep going”. Well, yesterday, when the scene presented itself and when Bob asked if I wanted him to turn around after I had made my customary comment, I answered “YES!”.

Where were we going, you might ask, when we passed by this stream? We were on our way to a Halloween party.

Halloween Decorations

The Halloween party was not at this house. We couldn’t, however, resist making a stop at this house to take a few pictures. It sure was well decorated for Halloween! More photographs of the decorations at this house follow.

Halloween Party

Bob and I attended a Halloween party on Friday night (October 30) at the home of our friends, George and Theresa.

This is George and Theresa’s house.

The front yard was filled with Halloween decorations, as was the house.

We enjoyed a fun-filled night in the company of great friends. The night was filled with high-spirited fun and enjoyment. It couldn’t have been a better night for a party either. It was a warm, summer-like night.
