Our Twin Granddaughters’ Fifth Birthday Celebration

Harper and Juniper’s 5th birthday was earlier this month. Yesterday, Stacey hosted a party to celebrate her daughters birthdays.

The girls’ birthday party was held at Betts Park, here in Warren PA, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

Bob grilled hot dogs,
which were accompanied by light refreshments.

The party had two themes: Trolls and Beauty & the Beast. If I remember correctly, Juniper chose the Trolls theme and Harper chose the Beauty & the Beast Theme. Both girls, however, like Trolls and Beauty & the Beast. Stacey’s choice of pavilion was excellent, as it was close to a playground. All the children had a great time playing on the playground equipment, while waiting on the hot dogs to cook.

Highlights of the birthday party included a pinata filled with toys, an appearance by Belle & her Prince, and the opening of presents.

The pinata fell but did not break open.
“J” hit the pinata, and it fell.

Lastly, here are three pictures of the girls opening birthday presents. The girls were thrilled with each present that they received.

The party was well attended by all three sets of grandparents, as well as other family members, and Harper and Juniper’s friends.

Deborah’s Bridal Shower

I attended a friend’s bridal shower yesterday afternoon. Deborah’s bridal shower was held at the Corry Community Center in Corry, PA from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

As is traditional at bridal showers, games were played.

For the “Say the Word” game, each guest was given a handmade necklace.

Preparing for “Say the Word” game

The rules for this game were if you said the words “bride” or “wedding” that you would lose your necklace to the person who caught you. The person with the most necklaces at the end of the game won a prize.

Another game was called “How well do you know the bride?”.

Playing the game “How well do you know the bride?”

The person who had the most correct answers received a prize.

In the game “What’s in Your Purse”, points were received for specific items contained inside your purse.

If anything in your purse matched what was in Deborah’s purse, you were rewarded additional points.  The person who had the most points won a prize.

The last game I recall was one in which everyone received an envelope with a picture inside.

Playing the “who has the groom” game

If the groom was inside the envelope you received, the recipient won a prize.  None of these pictures are the groom.

Each member of the bridal party attended the bridal shower.

I am looking forward to photographing Deborah and Brian’s wedding on June 24, 2017.

Ice Cream Social

Bob and I are members of a local motorcycle riding group.  Our riding group is called “2 Scoop Cycletherapy” because we ride for ice cream.  We get together with our 2 Scoop Cycletherapy friends throughout the year.

We attended an ice cream social with some of our motorcycle riding friends during the evening of Saturday, February 25.  Everyone brought something to the party, from cups and spoons to ice cream to toppings.  We spent about 2 1/2 hours eating ice cream and socializing with our friends.  Fun was had by all!

Harper and June’s 4th Birthday Celebration

Our granddaughters’ 4th birthday was this past Wednesday, May 18th.  Three days later we were still celebrating Harper and June’s birthday. Yesterday’s birthday celebration was held at their great uncle’s house. Bob’s daughter, Stacey, invited Bob and me to the party. All total 16 people attended the party.

The party started at 2:00 pm and ended a couple hours later. Party food included pizza, pasta salad, fruit, chocolate chip cookies, and a Batman birthday cake and vanilla ice cream with crushed Oreo cookies.

After we had eaten, the girls opened their birthday presents.  Harper and June received a very special present from Corvette.

Ryan is Harper and June’s cousin.  Ryan and Corvette are getting married in August, next year.  Corvette asked Harper and June if they would be her flower girls.

Will you be my flower girl?

After the girls opened all of the very nice presents they had received for their birthday, Uncle Denny brought out the cake.

Amanda, Harper and June’s cousin, made their birthday cake.
She made the vanilla ice cream with crushed Oreo cookies too.
Both the cake and ice cream were delicious!

Thank you for inviting us to the girls’ birthday party, Stacey.  Your dad and I had a good time!

Two Birthdays Celebrated

Bob and I attended a birthday party this evening. The party celebrated the birthdays of two of our friends, Corky and his daughter Debbie.

This is Debbie and her husband with one of their children and some of their grandchildren.

Three-Year Birthday Celebration

Saturday afternoon Bob and I attended our great niece’s third birthday celebration.  Elise’s birthday party was held at her maternal grandparents’ house from 2:00 pm through 8:00 pm.  The party was well attended by family members, for the most part.

This is our great nephew, Kaleb.  Kaleb is Elise’s cousin.

When Kaleb and I hugged each other, I told him how tall he is getting.  Kaleb’s response?  “I am 9.”  I guess being 9 years old means you are tall.

This is Elise, the birthday girl.

When I took this picture, Elise’s mother (our niece) was holding her, and Elise was looking back at me.  As soon as I took this picture, Elise became shy.  She laid her head on her mom’s shoulder and looked away from me.

Happy birthday Elise!

In this sequence of pictures, everyone sings “happy birthday” to Elise and then she blows out her candles.  I love Elise’s expression, while everyone is singing happy birthday to her.  She appears to be in awe that everyone is singing to her.  Elise’s smile, after she successfully blows out the birthday candles, is a favorite picture as well.

Our great niece, Anna (Elise’s cousin), is sitting on the right hand side of the picnic table.

It was a 2-hour drive for Bob and me to attend the party.  Thankfully the weather cooperated, and we didn’t see any wintery precipitation during our drive there and back home.  We arrived shortly before 2:00 pm and stayed for a couple hours.

Happy birthday Elise!  Uncle Bob and I are happy that we were able to celebrate your birthday with you!

Two-Year Birthday Celebration

Yesterday afternoon Bob and I attended our great niece’s second birthday celebration.  Elise’s birthday party was held at her maternal grandparents’ house from 2:00 pm through 5:00 pm.   It was a 2-hour drive for Bob and me to attend the party.  Thankfully the weather cooperated, and we didn’t see any wintry precipitation during our drive there and back home.  The party was well attended, and I enjoyed chatting with other attendees.  The highlight of our visit, though, was before the party began. Bob and I arrived 30 minutes early, and I had one-on-one playtime with Elise.

Here is a series of four photographs of Elise that I particularly liked.

Elise is such a happy child.  She smiles and laughs all the time.

Happy birthday Elise!  Uncle Bob and I are happy that we were able to celebrate your birthday with you!
