On Wednesday, May 11th, we drove from our home in Warren PA to Leeper PA, a distance of approximately 47 miles. Our destination was the Rail 66 Country Trail trailhead. We parked off Route 66 in the Car Mate parking lot next to the trail. From the Leeper trailhead we rode our bicycles, south, to […]

It has been 8 months since I last published a blog post for ”Bicycling the beauty around us”. Our last bicycle ride in 2021 was in September. So far this year we have bicycled in our neighborhood, and we rode our bicycles at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on Assateague Island in Virginia. We bicycled a […]

Our wedding anniversary was this past Sunday, on September 26th. We decided to take an anniversary trip to Confluence PA, where we spent 3 nights at an Airbnb. We brought our bicycles with us. Around 10:00 am on Monday, September 27th, we left on a bicycle ride. Entry to the Great Allegheny Passage was a […]

We vacationed the week of June 25 through July 2 in Hudson, Ohio. We brought our bicycles with us, intending to bicycle the entire Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park several times during the week. Because of extreme heat and high humidity and rain we ended up riding only a […]

Yesterday we went on our first bicycle ride this year outside of Warren. We transported our bicycles to the Quaker Run area of Allegany State Park. We met our friend Liz at the Quaker General Store. The three of us rode the new Quaker Run Multi-Use Trail (3.2 miles round trip). We didn’t realize that […]

Looks like you had a great day. The photo of you is a great one! You look very happy and the setting is just gorgeous 🙂
Linda, wonderful photos from your Sunday Drive. Does one of these parks have an old growth forest? I like the shot of you and the one of Bob. Can you climb the tower? The mountain laurel is gorgeous. Great post. Happy Memorial day!
Great photos Linda and I especially liked the ones of you and Bob. Looked like a wonderful ride.
Love those rocks! My grandkids would have been all over them, too! Oh, and I think those of us behind the camera all hate our pics taken! 😉 (I agree that it is a good picture of you, though.) The mountain laurel is beautiful. We don't often see those here in Michigan. I do have a girlfriend who has some and they are beautiful!
Glad to see you again Linda. I can't imagine how those trees get to be that big with those boulders they are growing in, how they were able to get enough nutrients when they are younger! They could already be very old.
Linda, we have walked in this park and so it was wonderful to see this post and the photos. I can recall the long winding tree roots.
That is a really nice photo of you, Linda…I don't like my own photos at all…not any of them.Looks like you had fun on your drive.
