A Christmas Project
Now that Christmas is over, I can share with you a project that my sister-in-law commissioned me to do for her. My sister-in-law, Judy, asked me to create a photograph of herself, her brother, her sister and mother with their father (who died in the Vietnam War) as a Christmas present for her siblings and mother. Judy wanted her father to appear as though he was keeping watch over her family.
This is Judy’s father. Judy scanned this photograph and emailed it me.
This photograph of Judy and her family was taken on Thanksgiving Day, this year. Judy is in red, standing by the window. Judy emailed this photograph to me.

A Father Keeps Watch Over His Family
I created this photograph, using Photoshop CS5. This Christmas project involved several iterations. I am supposed to tell you that my nephew, Jared, kept challenging me and that I stepped up to the plate with all but one challenge. In my first iteration I placed Judy’s father’s nose over the curio cabinet. Jared challenged me to remove the curio cabinet and window from the Thanksgiving Day photograph. I surprised myself when I accomplished that task without much difficulty! Jared also mentioned changing the background color. I opted not to do this, as I do not have much experience with capturing every strand of hair in my selections. Keeping the wall color as is made hair selection a simple task!
By the way Judy was pleased with the resultant photograph. I am happy that I was able to create a treasure for her family to enjoy.
