Winter 2024 Vacation: Gettysburg PA to Warren PA
Day 31 – Saturday, March 16
When I got up this morning, I still have the runny nose and scratchy throat. My lower back still hurts. I slept well last night. I wondered if I would sleep well, given my head cold and sore back.
We were showered and dressed by 6:30 am, at which time we took the elevator up to the 3rd floor for breakfast. Best Western Gettysburg provides a complimentary hot breakfast buffet. It is the only hotel that we have stayed in that we go UP to breakfast. There is a nice view of the countryside from the breakfast room.
We departed Gettysburg at 8:30 am en route home.
Our drive home was uneventful. I kept the seat warmer on most of the way home. The heat made the pain in my lower back bearable. I continuously drank hot tea or water and sucked on lifesavers to cope with my head cold.
We returned home around 12:30 pm.
We had an incredible winter vacation. It feels great, though, to be back home now, especially because I am not feeling well.

Today is March 19. We have been home from vacation for 3 days. With the exception of my normal aches and pains, my back pain is gone. I am on Day 5 of this head cold. Head colds last 7-10 days, right? This head cold appears to be losing its grip on me. I am coughing and sneezing less. My nose doesn’t feel nearly as congested as it did at the onset. Bob caught my head cold. He took Cold-Eeez zinc lozenges soon as he started sneezing. He is already getting over his head cold.
The weatherman says today is the first day of Spring. It sure doesn’t look like Spring here in Warren PA!
Snow showers and cold temperatures will be with us much of this week.

We didn’t welcome Spring with the snow you got, but we definitely had the freezing temperatures!
Welcome home, you have been gone for awhile.
I am sorry you caught a cold, I hope you feel better soon.
Take care, have a great day!
I’m glad you are starting to feel better.
What a welcome home, Linda, first you’re not feeling well and then winter returning on what was supposed to be spring’s entrance. We have had gusty winds and rain but no snow.
Linda, your winter vacation sounds like quite the adventure! Despite the challenges with your health, I’m glad you still managed to enjoy it. The complimentary breakfast with a view sounds lovely. Wishing you and Bob a speedy recovery from your colds and hoping for warmer weather ahead!
Well, they are pretty photos but I sure do hope you get some warmer weather soon to get rid of the snow. Also good to know you are feeling better and that you will soon be 100 percent.
